You’ve updated your website and created a social media presence, but your business may still be struggling to receive inbound customers and leads. It’s time to consider starting a blog for your company. The idea of blogging may seem trivial, but in reality there are many reasons why blogging is becoming a necessity for business owners everywhere, especially in the health and wellness sector. 87% of all US Adults report using the internet and  (www.pewinternet.org), research indicates that between 75%-80% of internet users look online for health information. There is a huge segment of the population seeking health related information online. If you are blogging on a topic that they are searching, your blog post is much more likely to be found by that prospective customer. If you aren’t blogging, you won’t have the opportunity to help that person as they seek that information.

Here are three big reasons why your health and wellness business should consider blogging:

Blogging can drastically increase traffic to your website

If you have not updated the content on your website recently, the chances are you are not generating any new traffic to your website. When people use search engines like Google, the information and key words most relevant and recent will be the first to show. By utilizing a blog and posting content relevant to your business on a regular basis, your blog posts (directly from your website) are more likely to show up higher on a search engine, thus bringing more traffic to your site.

A blog  provides an outlet to stay connected with your customers

In addition to providing your customers with frequent information and knowledge, blogs can also be a great way to communicate with them and start to build relationships. Your blog posts will have a comment section where clients and colleagues can ask questions and interact with you. This is a great way to prove your legitimacy to your clients and gain trust and respect in your industry, thus building your personal brand as well. You don’t have to rely on testimonials to build your credibility. You are an expert in your industry and your blog posts allow you the opportunity to showcase this.

Blogs provide content for other marketing efforts

If you are using a Twitter and Facebook page, but aren’t sure what content you should be sharing, your blog posts provide you great content marketing pieces that you can share with your followers. By sharing your blog posts on social media, you are not only engaging in a more integrated strategic plan, but you are exposing your content to a much larger audience. If your followers comment on or share your post, it provides you access to a wider audience.

Blogging takes time and is a commitment, however, if it’s important to you to build your business and personal credibility and to secure more customers through content marketing strategies, then it’s likely time to start blogging.
